“Even as a child I preferred to play in the garden rather than with dolls. This love for plants and animals has remained with me, and although my long work kept me in the city, my heart never left the countryside. In 2012 I finally moved definitively to the Maremma, in Scansano, where I began farming vines and olive trees and breeding bees. In addition to surrounding myself with animals: dogs, cats, donkeys, hens, geese and many others. It certainly hasn’t been easy to find a place for myself in this male-dominated environment. I have had to earn the respect of other farmers in the field. I initially met with a great deal of incredulity, scepticism and perhaps a touch of mockery. But my stubbornness won through”.

A forest ranger and hunter, but above all, a great lover of nature and a connoisseur of the area, nothing escapes his experienced gaze. He owns his own Agricultural Company near us with a beautiful agritourism, and if you want to spend a few days in complete relaxation, “La Locandiera” awaits you.

Francesco agronomo ed enologo
A vineyard and cellar consultant, he oversees every step from vine selection to the wine in the glass. His passion for wine has taken him far from Maremma, where he was born, and from Florence, where he studied and earned his degree in Agricultural Science.

After gaining initial experience in the field, cellar, and laboratory in the Chianti Classico region at some of the most famous wineries, he specialized in the most innovative techniques in the field of red wine vinification and preservation at the prestigious Victor Segalen University of Bordeaux 2, Faculty of Oenology.

He later expanded his horizons with work experience as an oenological consultant in some prominent wineries, including Hay Shed Hill Winery in Margaret River, Perth, Australia, and Thelema Mountain Vineyards in Helshgoogte Stellenbosch, South Africa.

Now, back in his homeland, he serves as an oenological consultant for carefully selected wineries. With us, Francesco is free to express his creativity and professionalism fully. A seasoned tasting expert, he is part of numerous evaluation panels and frequently conducts tasting courses for experienced palates or simply wine enthusiasts.

Born on a full moon night, unfortunately, his donkey mother passed away shortly after, leaving the little donkey truly inconsolable. Elisabetta adopted him and nourished him with a bottle, becoming his human mother. The two adore each other, and Pippo tries to be helpful on the farm by taking care of ground cleaning as an amazing weed remover and welcoming guests. He plays with the children and brings smiles to the adults.
